Climate change is the rise in temperature induced by greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), produced in significant quantities due to human-polluting activities.
Here are a series of small changes we can make in our workplace to stop contributing, even in a small way, to environmental pollution
Installing LED Lights

In our new office, we chose to install only LED bulbs, which are more expensive but more long-lasting and environmentally friendly.
Dressing Appropriately for the Season

… to save on air conditioning! Heating and cooling systems are the primary source of CO2 emissions due to the greenhouse effect. Smartly conditioning workspaces by first airing the rooms for 10 minutes with windows wide open and then maintaining a reasonable temperature is the best way to reduce emissions. Well, you know: regardless of the temperature on the thermometer, there’s always someone complaining it’s too cold or too hot.
Opting for Biodegradable Coffee Pods

There are plenty of eco-friendly coffee options for the office. Many pod shops collect empties, or you can purchase biodegradable pods that can be composted. Alternatively, if you’re in a small group, you might decide to invest in an electric moka pot. We spared no options: electric moka pot AND biodegradable pods!
Using Reusable Water Containers

Every colleague with their reusable water bottle: stainless steel, glass, or Tritan bottles can significantly reduce disposable plastic consumption.
Saying Goodbye to Plastic Cups and Spoons

Investing in a small set of ceramic cups for coffee isn’t difficult; alternatively, each colleague could bring their own to create a delightful mismatched effect. Sure, a reusable cup requires washing, but a sponge and a small dish soap dispenser (even better if purchased in bulk) can quickly solve that issue.
Choosing Biodegradable Utensils

In case you’re hosting an event with external people (suppliers, clients…) where standard cups and utensils can’t be used, always choose compostable materials like Mater-Bi for utensils, allowing them to be disposed of in organic waste. This applies to cups, forks, plates, and spoons.
Before leaving, turn off all energy-consuming devices

Monitors, printers, electric moka pots: anything left on and connected to power consumes energy. Remember to always turn off all electronic devices to reduce consumption and, consequently, CO2 production.
And what is your company doing for the environment?
Antartika supports the #FridaysforFuture movement. On Friday, September 27th, you’ll find us in Vicenza’s square for the third global climate strike.
